Broken Social Scene. I listened to You Forgot it in People a long time ago and really loved it but recently I've been giving more of their stuff a listen and now I'm loving their other music even more. Great fucking band.

Better late than never. Rory Gallagher's music always sounds fresh to me & I never tire of it. Too bad he left the world so early.

For years and years I was totally unaware of the existence of the great punk band The Queers. I did not discover them until around the year 2008. More than twenty years after they had formed.

For me, the bands I missed out on during my teens were a direct result of a few things.

1) Regional radio not playing all bands.
2) Lack of funds to buy everything I wanted.
3) My taste didn't line-up with the music.

During the '70's, WMMS in Cleveland with current Sirius DJ Kid Leo (Underground Garage) got allot of love for breaking a number of bands. I 100% approve of stations doing their own programming but there is a tradeoff that comes with programming independence.

With WMMS in the '77 time frame, I heard more songs by The Dwight Twilley Band than I did Sex Pistols, Damned and Clash combined. That's not a knock on Dwight Twilley (RIP), as a matter of fact I still enjoy listening to; 'I'm On Fire', 'TV' and 'Trying To Find My Baby'. Pretty good power pop band that is worth checking out.

My point is; a musical revolution was going on in New York and London and my local station with local programming largely ignored it. I didn't miss out because national rock mags (CREEM in particular) covered the punk scene and I bought the music when I could.

The second is lack of funds which comes with being 15 so I had to save up lunch money all week to afford an album on Friday.

The third reason is my taste not lining up with an artist or just being dismissive based on one song.

All that said...the artists I missed out on until a few years after the fact; Harry Nilsson, Nick Lowe, The Dictators.
