Default American Version Of Eurovsion

Do y'all think that an American version of Eurovision would work? I now that NBC has the right to make one, but apparently gave up on the idea. I, not being someone who gets to watch Eurovision due to location, think that I would like to see an American Version, just as long as it wasn't done in the same vain as American Idol or X-Factor.

Since Eurovision is actually different countries competing against each other, I'm assuming an American version would have to be different states competing against each other. However, with the way they do all these shows now, I do not see how they could make it any different than American Idol.

I realize how easily the show could come off as another American Idol rip off attempt al-la X Factor and The Voice. They could make it different by opening it up to all genres. plus, any artist/band could enter. I mean ZZ Top could represent Texas if they want to and were chosen to. Then they could be up against the poor ol' Mormon Girl (who we don't know at all) from Utah, who we wouldn't think could even come close to beating ZZ Top, then actually does. I actually like the possibly of something like that. Something we don't get with American Idol.

It would have to be professional established acts only or it wouldn't work.

Having pros going against semi-pros/amateurs wouldn't be too fun to watch them get constantly outperformed.

That's Eurovision for ya. And yes, the established acts actually do finish near the bottom of the barrel as in Bonnie Tyler and Englebert Humperdinck.

I don't see why an American version would be states vs states, when there are 36 countries in the Americas...

Did Scotty the Rebel mean America aka USA or America aka the North and South American continents?

Considering that saying America = USA is politically incorrect, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he meant the continent. Anyway Eurovision is a competition between countries, why would they call it "American Eurovision" if it were between states?

I don't get you, USA means United States of America, how is politically incorrect to think you live in America when you live in the United States of America?

You could have a nitpicking contest instead.

But yeah, I think of Eurovision as different nations and representatives of different cultures coming together, musically battling it out for better and for worse. Different states competing against eachother doesn't quite sound like an American version of Eurovision. It sounds like an idea potentially inspired by Eurovision.
