Bands such as Paramore, No Doubt, Evanesecence and The Black Eyed Peas have all adopted this line up, although are the women in these groups seen as equal to the men? Seen as an object of male attention/ in a sexual way? Or are they truly valued for their talent, regardless of specified instrument? Also any attitudes on feminism?

Would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Thanks

I think you'll come to find out in your study that women can be talented and show off their sexuality equally if they so choose to.

Hayley and Gwen were already mentioned by Neo so I won't touch on them but Amy pretty much is the leader of Evanescence to the point where her band line-up left and she got to keep the name and replace them.

The Subways have a peppy little lass playing bass for them and sharing some vocal duties and then there is a more focal point with Grace Slick and Janis Joplin. I never really attached much thought to them being in these bands I just enjoyed what they had to offer.

So why did you post Concrete Blonde, is it because it's another example of what you think is a crap band or a band you think is better than that mentioned?

I like Concrete Blonde, maybe more so because of Johnette. She was a pretty good bass player I thought, now she's a tattoo artist. I did seriously considered to changing my user name from Neapolitan to Napolitano - no lie.

I couldn't care less who the lead singer of a band is.
Garbage is by far one of my favorite bands.
