This is a music forum. There are thousands of threads about music on here, most, if not all of them have titles that reflect the specific topic of discussion regarding music which the thread aims to discuss.

Though, thanks to my great sense of humor I have an opinion.

I don't think that commercial record companies have ruined the art of music whatsoever. I think that people probably just haven't searched hard enough for good music. I mean, it's out there. Whether or not it's went viral is the problem. A lot of youth have mostly 'fallen in love' with a band or song because it went viral. But there's loads of music out there that's been released that wasn't ruined by a commercial record company.

Benjamin Frances Leftwich is an example. He isn't mainstream but he hasn't been 'ruined'. He has art in his music.


His Name Is Alive is another example.


And also Sonic Youth.


Or if you're including rock, this is a good track from an underrated band called "Cold". They did this album under Nikki Sixx's "Seven Eleven" label.


There's all sorts if I understood your question correctly. It's just one of those things where people haven't done enough digging. Just because there's been a bunch of Katy Perry out there doesn't mean there isn't a Scooter Ward. Haha.
