Paul Mawhinney - Largest record collection

Just came across this today but thought some people here might enjoy watching this. Just realised it was filmed over 4 1/2 years ago.

He probably has more records now seeing the interview is four years ago....I think some institution should buy the collection and open up a museum where people could go and listen to the records on a daily basis.

I saw a more recent interview with him on VH1 Classic. He probably hasn't added any records in a while and for years has been trying to sell the collection, preferably for museum display. As of the episode, it was all boxed up.

Supposedly the problem is that 3/5 of the collection is extremely common(not to mention a ton of multiples), but he insists that it stay together and no museum wants to pay for(and pay to store) a bunch of common records. He does have some very rare stuff, but until he accepts that a lot of it is worthless (or he passes away) it's going to stay right where it is.

That looks like what has happened, still no buyers. While it seems sad that he is hanging onto it as he ages and his health gets worse, his life is that collection. I cant see it being sold while he is still alive.

I would love to see an extended video with him talking and sharing some of the rare and more unusual stuff in his collection.
