Default It was fifty years ago today.........

Exactly 50 years ago, on March 22 1963, the first Beatles album came out.
Any thoughts regarding this landmark moment in music history?

I like The Beatles although I am not a huge fan. I think it was a massive mark for music though as it paved the way for different and new sorts of modern music. A lot of artists now use The Beatles as inspiration!

There's no denying the were, and still are massive.

Any artist/music journo that says they don't like the beatles should take a long hard look at the history of pop music in general. They were, and always will be THE FIRST to do any number of things:- The Concept album, use feedback on a track, to make psychedelic mainstream!

Love them!

Alas. Each to their own. They fill my heart with song. And John occasionally speaks to me like no other artist can. x

I loved these songs when they first came out as 45rpm singles when I was little (in '63 I was 5). I think now that they were better than the pop of that day but music would evolve tremendously over the next 30-40 years

Yawn. Much more interesting things out there happening that I can listen to. Never been one to celebrate album anniversaries either. Plus, they have better albums to celebrate.

You don't happen to be a member of the Hoffman forums, do you?

The Beatles didn't invent the concept album. Frank Sinatra had them beat by a full decade, as well as others.

To me, it's simply the great start of The Beatles' long list of fine albums. It's a sharp Pop album filled with great performances. Love the early stuff as much as the Post-Help albums and singles.
