I know there is. I wanted to include Sunset Rubdown - Dragonslayer, Fever Ray, Sufjan Stevens - Illinois, Interpol - TOTBL, Women - Public Strain, The Dismemberment Plan - Change, Battles - Mirrored, ETC... Again, the list is a constant work in progress. Anyways the point of this thread was to share lists not criticise them.

I'm far from criticizing you man/lady. In fact the bands slash albums you just named are ****ing fantastic and some of my favorites. I'm gunna make them bold now. I don't feel like making an official list but I'll just throw down some of my favorites that come to mind real quick. Also, I'm a bit of an ass when it comes to my sens of humor.

The Mars Volta - Deloused in the Comatorium
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - F#A# Infinity
Cloudkicker - Beacons
Grizzly Bear - Yellow House
Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People
Kayo Dot - Wayfarer
Igor Stravinsky - The Rite of Spring
John Coltrane - Blue Train
Mastodon - Blood Mountain
Opeth - Damnation
Radiohead - Kid A
Tom Waits - The Heart of a Saturday Night

What are the rules here? Are we supposed to just name artists we like and then their best album for do we have to give the best albums of the artists you mentioned?

I imagine just do your own list.

Hard to come up with a definitive, and I'm sure there are many I'm leaving out but here's mine. And yes, I realise a lot of these are expected choices/classic albums and people may sneer, but there you go. These are the albums I can listen to over and over again, even twenty or thirty years later in some cases, and not grow tired of or bored with.

In descending order:

20. Fact and fiction --- Twelfth Night
19. Passengers --- Mostly Autumn
18. Eve --- The Alan Parsons Project
17. The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Chapter One --- Hostsonaten
16. Heresy and creed --- Ten
15. Arrival --- Journey
14. 2112 --- Rush
13. Oceanic --- Vangelis
12. Rising --- Rainbow
11. Out of the blue --- Electric Light Orchestra
10. Holy diver --- Dio
9. Blue Valentine --- Tom Waits
8. Bat out of Hell --- Meat Loaf
7. Hotel California --- Eagles
6. The Planets suite --- Gustav Holst
5. The War of the Worlds --- Jeff Wayne
4. Dark side of the moon --- Pink Floyd
3. Infected --- The The
2. The number of the Beast --- Iron Maiden
1. Script for a jester's tear --- Marillion
