No, not from a single band. When it's a whole list of artists they like, there may be certain things I can guess about them, such as their age, but I still don't think it it tells me all that much about who they are as a person. The bigger thing, to me, isn't what they like, it's how they talk about it. That's where you can get more of a sense of the kind of person they are.
