The Grammys
I just do not think that there is that much going on in the world of the kind of music that will be highlighted at the Grammys tonight. It seems that a bunch of dance routines thrown together around some songs is the standard these days.
Yes being older I have lived through the music of the 60s and 70s along with the Disco era which to be honest had better groups then what is out there today in my opinion. Perhaps some other people here would like to offer their opinion about the quality of music that is being presented these days.... |

It's presenting what has made the most money over the past year, not what the best music was.

The biggest disappointment this year is that Bob Dylan's 'Tempest' wasn't nominated for the Best Contemporary Folk/Americana album. IMO it deserved to be nominated for 'Album of the Year' too but that's expecting too much from the Academy. But they do get it right sometimes. |

I agree. That rings true of most of Grammy popular music nominations. But for some reason ...I guess its just the law of averages...they do hit on the best in popular music that didn't even have time to sell big being they came out late in the year or albums that didn't even have one big selling single or radio hit like Bob Dylan's 'Time Out Of Mind'. I did feel sorry for Radiohead losing out to him. ...NOT!!! And I didn't even know who Arcade Fire was when they won. And was blown away when 'Brother Where Art tho' soundtrack won. Those are the cool unexpected moments I like to see at the Grammys. This year won't have any of those for me.

IMHO, Those people that put on this show, quite frankly, don't know the first effing thing about music.

From the list of nominations I've seen he may as well be.

I'm actually pretty bummed that I don't have access to a TV right now. I really want to see Mumford and Sons and fun. play.
Other than that, I don't really care about the Grammy's.
