I used to dismiss "love songs" as idiotic pandering to a high school market, but now that I've grown up a little bit and I'm not so embittered by unrequited loves and the mindset that accompanies puberty, I've come to objectively look at songs about love and realize that they're no different than most any other songs, and that most songs, at least in some way are attributed to some sort of love: be it actual romantic love, obsession, infatuation, unrequited love, love of inanimate objects, or just a love of music.
However, this doesn't mean that some of these songs (or maybe even most of them) aren't written with the intention of "selling it". And old habits die hard, and I still see people that buy into these things as rubes. So here's some of my favorites. "Sunshine of Your Love" - Cream "This Love" - Pantera "Mary the Ice Cube" - Primus "Weakness" - Opeth "I Need You" - Lynyrd Skynyrd "Vampira" - The Misfits "Only You" - Portishead "She's Leaving Home" - The Beatles "Shesmovedon" - Porcupine Tree It's not much, but it's all I've got right now.
