I am not a fan of Nirvana in any way, as I just wasn't a fan of their style of music. I do like some grunge, however, with Alice In Chains being a personal favorite of mine, but I just didn't like Nirvana. I'm not going to discredit them or anything like that, but when I hear them play somewhere other than my house, I walk away. I do, however, like their songs when covered by another band, examples being Machine Head's cover of "Negative Creep" and Fear Factory's cover of "School".

I just feel like I've been so over saturated with them over the past two decades that it's hard for me to sit down and listen to their albums and enjoy them on their own terms anymore. Though, now that I'm talking about it, I have to admit I kind of feel like listening to them. Maybe I will.

You've hit the nail right on the head there. If Nirvana had been about as popular as say the Melvins, they would've attained cult status and people would be constantly singing their praises on this forum as a band to check out. For a lot of people, being too popular seems to dilute a band's quality unfortunately.

Of course you are defending the nonsense of Ghost Jam's comments. You know as well as I do that not everyone cares for Nirvana. I simply stating the obvious. Not everyone cares for Nirvana. I mean I know Ghost Jam loves nirvana. Obviously yes I like Franco and Pepe Kalle but my name makes that obvious. You should know that I like those two since that is my name here. DUH. But I understand that not everyone is going to like Franco and Pepe Kalle. I respect that. But Ghost Jam is mad that not everyone like Nirvana. That is all what I am stating. Ghost Jam knows that he is being a *******.

I was going to repsond to your wittering, but on second thoughts Nevermind.

I remember my brother telling me how he found a favorite band. After I heard them I was like nevermind. I guess part of my problem of not hailing Nirvana as the greatest band ever is that I heard a lot of music before hearing them. Not that I am an expert in any way.

I'd also heard a lot of music before hearing them, I just think their execution of the sound that they had put together fairly mind-blowing for its time, despite the fact that a lot of their base sound had been already done by the Pixies.

Nirvana are decent, but they don't hold a candle to Pearl Jam, the best american rock and roll band.

I don't think it dilutes their quality, the band is what it is, but it certainly can make you sick and tired of hearing about them.

When they were the biggest band on the planet, giving a big "f.uck you" to MTV and Ticketmaster.

I can't understand how you don't like them. Do you listen to Rock music?

I don't really like them either. I think it's the singer.

I think it's more the turgid dated dad-rock they churn out myself.

There were plenty of bands that played louder faster harder and/or better than Nirvana. Unfortunately they have less recognition than the Melvins and no one brings them up. So I don't buy that idea "fame = diluted quality."

So you saying they are mind-blowing save for the fact they weren't original. What side are you on anyway? ... nevermind.

Sure pearl jam is not a great rock band but they are a better band than Nirvana.
