I'm interested in hip hop a lot now, thinking about getting some Tribe vinyl or maybe some Wu Tang or Jay-Z or Nas. Do they make those in analog do you know?
|
I'm not positive, but I imagine so. Many artists today release a vinyl version of everything.
|
For classic albums definitely get the 180 gram vinyl versions which are double albums with only a couple of tracks per side with the least amount of compression possible. Vinyl is really making a big comeback and many bands and companies alike acknowledging this and releasing music this way.
I have a record deck coming my way around March next year and cannot wait to get back into vinyl, but a great deck is nothing without a decent amp set up in the first place regardless of the music that you buy. |
A decent cartridge is very important. If the sound is poor at the source not even the best amp or speakers in the world can correct it. I got rid of the cheap cartridge I had a few months back and got a decent Audio Technica cartridge and the improvement in sound is unreal. Much more vibrant and detailed.

I need to invest in a new cartridge at some point. What are some good ones under 100 bucks? What's the best bang for my buck?
Ditto for speakers. |
So I got Crosley Mini Turntable and have it hooked up to my surround sound system. Do you guys think this is decent?
