12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert
Was at a friends (singer/songwriter) house when this came on the tele. She knew it was gonna be on and had her tv programmed to start it. Since we do a version of some of the songs, we played along with them. It was a blast playing along to a live concert with some of the legends singing for you.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4c_8rTuddU The wiki: 12-12-12: The Concert for Sandy Relief - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It was actually really entertaining. Sorry if this is a bit cryptic, but I'm feeling a bit brain-dead today. |
What the hell? NIRVANA played with Paul McCartntney?
EDIT: Ah, just a song. Still, the remaining members of Nirvana playing anything together with anyone is pretty historic. |
I just saw the performance with Nirvana's members and McCartney, at first...the thought of it made me kind of sick, but now that I actually saw it, i'm willing to admit that I do like it, a lot.

I didn't like that (new) song, and also I didn't like the Alicia Keys ending.
However, I liked the show overall, apart from Kanye's set. Artists made some strange song choices, evidently to try to connect to the subject matter; some of them I enjoyed. The playing was good, I saw some seldom-seen performers (G.E. Smith playing third-string guitar for Roger Waters), and it was a nice mix of musical styles. |
When I first heard about this, I thought it sounded quite odd. Then, after I thought about it some more, I imagined the three of them playing "Helter Skelter."
Oh well, I got it partly right. |
I thought the nirvana/Paul thing was great. What exactly was Paul playing? Looked like a little 4 string cigar box guitar, it sounded cool. That really was a surprise. I knew Dave grohl was going to play with Paul since his named was on the bill and he didn't perform solo; and because he played with Paul earlier this year (was it at the Grammys?). But I was not expecting krist at all, that was a big surprise.

Paul's frequent switching of guitars was a show in itself.
|
I was really hoping to hear him play some Nirvana covers. Instead they wrote a hard rock song that wasn't in line with Nirvana's sound at all, IMO.
|
Pretty sure that was a custom resonator, or some call it a dobro.
|
I was thinking dobro but I've never seen one that small.
