At work Monday, a girl was asking me for ideas for a gift for her girlfriend. She said she already got her a surround sound system, that her girlfriend is really into music, and something in that vein would be the kind of thing she wanted to get her. I suggested that if her girlfriend didn't have any good ones already, some quality cans would be a good investment. I pimped AKG, of course, because I'm an AKG fan girl through and through, and she dismissed it with, "She already has good headphones; she has iPod earbuds."

Almost lost my mind.

I promise, also that there's a point to that story. It really got me thinking; without a nice set of headphones, there are so many songs I'd never have really been able to appreciate on that special level that I do today, having heard them as they were meant to be heard, seemingly born anew once listened to with solid 'phones.
