Phish - "Rift"
This song really beautifully sets up the entire album to follow. It showcases all four members wonderfully, sets a perfect mood, and the piano and guitar solos are absolutely fantastic. Jethro Tull - Aqualung This is a pretty epic opening track. It opens the album flawlessly, preparing the listener for the rest of the disc, and works as a standalone track as well. I absolutely adore the different movements within the song. It's a thoroughly interesting and entertaining listen from beginning to end. I was going to include something else, but I'd probably lose at least a million cool points (and I don't even have that many to begin with) by mentioning it. Track from an album I completely wore out in my youth.

U2: Where The Streets Have No Name - YouTube It was a deliberate opening track pick by the band, and it sets off The Joshua Tree very nicely. (Although I personally don't rate the song as great.) By the way, I just noticed that the official video has an extended intro that I've never seen on TV. |
