I can understand the irritation with people in The UK getting sick of the many times re-issued Slade X-Mas hit, but over where I live, in The States, it's certainly not even known and is a refreshing change of pace from the usual crap that gets played - at least it's fun in my opinion.
Many of the regular radio stations in the US play outright garbage, especially the useless "Last Christmas" in it's many versions many times over enough for me to "Wham!" a wall. Plus, while I still like John Lennon's song in it's original form, the covers seriously have to go...although the original is getting too overplayed for my taste as well (I remember it when only the Rock stations had it all to themselves! I'm certainly showing my age, but there you are) The Phil Spector stuff is still great, although I have a little bit of an eerie feeling no thanks to the events of a few years back (Lana Clarkston). |

I have no problem with Slade's song. As you say, at least it's fun and the guys sound like they're actually enjoying it, not just putting it out to make money (though of course they were). Wizzard's song I like too, but I have a problem with the title, as I certainly do NOT wish it could be Christmas every day! Kill me now!

Here's yet another example of those "Disco" Christmas records that seriously brings visions of Polyester suits and bad hair. Get on board the Disco Love Boat on it's final cruise just before 1981 rolled around and things changed to Country for next year's seasonal cruise. |

I'll just shamelessly revive this thread:
Some of the most abysmal Christmas "music" to ever infect this planet has to be from the Norwegian Children's Chistmas Musical "Putti Plutti Pott and Santa's Beard". Even as a young child I couldn't stand it... The ironic thing is that it has become a staple of Norwegian Christmas tradition. *slow clap* Idgaf whether or not it's for children; it should be criminalized for being the atrocity that it is. Worst offeding song: Spoiler for you have been warned:
(But a merry Xmas to you all from Gicantic Ebenezer) |
