Today I was amused by...
Matthais and Sons' "The One That Won't Go Away," his parody of Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away." I especially like his lines, "She was like my grandma's goiter: she just wouldn't go away." And: "I can't get rid of you no matter how loud I scream. NOOOO!!! I should have told you what you meant to me: Nothing! Now I pay the price." Cruel but funny. Katy Perry - The One That Got Away - Music Video Parody - YouTube * * * And now for comparison (to appreciate the parody's clever modifications of the lyrics) we have Katy Perry's original song. I kind of hate to say that her song makes me sad every time I watch it, because I don't want to admit I succumb to this intentional tear-jerker...especially not a tear-jerker where the hero dies because he breaks the cardinal rule of driving: "Do NOT stare down at pink tulle headpieces while driving along cliffside roads upon which gargantuan boulders have set up residence." I know the whole situation is preposterous...and yet... Katy Perry - "The One That Got Away" I get caught up in the catchy beat, and then GASP! horrified as she ruins his lovely painting!...and then OH NO there are the boulders, smack dab in the middle of the road without even a "falling rocks" sign to serve as a warning. Tragic. Katy Perry - The One That Got Away - YouTube

Today I saw this parody by Bart Baker of Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" and it made me chuckle quite a bit because the parody is really rather well done with some cutting criticisms.
I hope Taylor has a good sense of humor, because there is a lot to shake off in this song! For the record, she doesn't *really* look like a paralyzed rat when she dances.

Today I saw this feminist parody of Megan Trainor's "All About That Bass" and it amused me. The men washing the car was a nice touch.

This made me laugh until I cried. I read online that it's supposed to be what the actual song would have sounded like if bands had used auto-tuning back in the '60s.
