One-Hit in The States, but a perfect choice! It's a fine cover of another One-Hit Wonder band called The Strangeloves, who were in fact a couple of legendary Bubblegum (In the Right definition of the word!) songwriters from NYC posing as Australians (!).

Texans The Sir Douglas Quartet, another band posing as being from somewhere else, almost stayed a One-Hit Wonder with "She's About a Mover." At first, their gimmick was being from England. By '69, they owned up and had one more hit with "Mendocino." I would have doubt it that the killer Texan Style G-Punk vocals would have fooled many, though.

One US One-Hit band that wound up being more respected in The UK when they were still around were Love, who's "7 and 7 Is" was their US Top 40 ("My Little Red Book" was just short of the list). Forever Changes, their essential album, was a decent sized hit album in The UK, along with a couple of other albums including Out There, a under-performihg album in The US that I think hit the Top 40 in the UK.

My favorites would be...

No Rain - Blind Melon
Counting Blue Cars (Tell Me All Your Thoughts On God) - Dishwalla

...most people probably have heard those two so I won't post links. The third one I don't think is necessarily a one-hit wonder because it wasn't exactly a hit song, but I think it counts because it's really the only song by this band anyone who's heard of them knows. They weren't a great band or anything, but this song is fantastic. It was my favorite for a long time... Really chill.

The Rock - Delakota

The Wallflowers "One Headlight"

By the way, the first vid I posted of "The Wonders" performing "That thing you do" was a pun. It was a movie called "that thing you do" and the storyline was about a band literally called "the wonders" who only managed to have one hit before they broke up. It had Tom Hanks and Liv Tyler in it...pretty good movie but totally fictional.

I remember this band! Not sure if I'd call them a one-hit wonder though because their other songs Three Marlenas and 6th Avenue Heartache got a lot of radio airplay, at least where I grew up... One Headlight is good, I prefer 6th Avenue Heartache though. Great song, although I can't say I was ever a big fan of Jakob Dylan's solo stuff post-Wallflowers... xD

^ Going with your 90s theme I just remembered! This might just be my favorite one-hit wonder ever. Primitive Radio Gods - Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth With Money In My Hand. Used to love when this would come on the radio!

& I can agree to this. One I was thinking of posting was Bittersweet Symphony by the Verve, and then remembered they had a lot of what could be considered hit songs in the UK. Same with Blur and Song 2 over here..

Other good 90s ones...('cause I'm bored)

Eve 6 - Inside Out
Duncan Sheik - Barely Breathing
Len - Steal My Sunshine
Semisonic - Closing Time
Tal Bachman - She's So High
The La's - There She Goes

Haha, yeah! I bought that album when it came out because I loved that song. Unfortunately every other track aside from the single is terrible.
