There is no way for me to choose a favorite vocalist. I can, however, think of some that always stand out to me. First, Andy Falkous from Future of the Left always stood out to me as interesting and edgy and I really like that. Second, Jordan Billie and Johnny Whitney doing the tag-team/combo vocals for the Blood Brothers was just so incredibly well done and it just really worked well. From then on, I've listened to all of Johnny's other projects and he's proven himself to be one of my favorite vocalists ever.
Finally, Tom Waits. His gruff and almost exotic voice drives me nuts. It's so cool, but it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Ugh...there's another thread on the same subject that's much longer and active much more recently than this one.

Wow. I have seen a lot of picks on here that I was not expecting, in a bad way. Billie Joe? Davey Havok? Gerard Way? God. Damn!
I know I'm not getting old, but a lot of these picks definitely paint a picture of just how young some of you kids are. And I'm a Jello Biafra fan, but he definitely doesn't have a great voice. Coolest voice for music? As a whole? Well, damn! Not asking much! A few off the top would be some old Chris Cornell, Layne Stayley, Mike Patton, Maynard J.K., Carla Kihlstedt, select Tom Waits, Jeff Buckley, and Mikael Akerfeldt.
