As this is in essence a pointless comparison anyway, let's have your thoughts on

Bruce Springsteen vs A plank of wood

I mean, yeah, think about it: Springsteen's a great singer, excellent songwriter and all-round good egg, but where is he when you need to board up a window or a door? Bloody useless, right? And if you want to make a makeshift table with breezeblocks, no point using Springsteen as the flat surface.... Pretty pointless to try varnishing or painting him either.

Obviously not that pointless seeing as you have more posts in this thread than anybody else.

Oh wait you've not actually mentioned the topic subject in any of them. Maybe you should just leave the thread if you feel that way about it.

Whoa Mister Grump! Just trying to inject a little humour into this.
I'm not familiar enough with either artiste to comment authoritatively, but that shouldn't exclude me from contributing/commenting. Plenty of people have remarked that the comparison offered here is pointless, as each works in a different genre, so it's not just me.

You don't see the funny side, fine: sorry I bothered. I'll just crawl back to my journal now, shall I?

I'm just saying, you hate the thread you wanted it closed not so long ago, so instead of letting it sink down into obscurity you keep bumping it & then complaining it's still here.

Makes no sense to me.

Ah I don't hate it. I don't hate much really: just seemed a pointless comparison but hey, if it's to be left open then fine. Just thought I'd poke a little fun at it.

Guess we don't think the same way, but then, I was programmed to be -- er, I mean ... look, just forget you heard that, okay? (shifty-eyed look)

Edit: Oh, and one point to clear up? I haven't bumped this, not once. I don't go looking for it to slip in a comment. It's been regularly posted in, and I just check the threads I'm interested in to see when/if they've been posted in. If they haven't, and I've nothing to add, I don't bump them, or any thread, needlessly. Check the posts: three or four yesterday, two today, apart from mine. It's not like I'm trying to keep it alive in direct contradiction to what I said. If no-one posted anymore, or it got locked down, then I wouldn't care in the slightest. But as it's active I'm just keeping up to date on what's happening in it, and adding in my two cents here and there when I can.

Save your off topic postings for lounge threads, don't pollute the music forums with them please.

It's beginning to get to the point where we may have to clampdown on this, and you don't want that.

That's true. Never really thought of it that way to be honest.
