Another one from The Kinks, my favorite track on ...Are The Village Green Preservation Society. My Anglophilia goes into overdrive whenever I hear this.
And another short song I love is The Beach Boys' "Let Him Run Wild". ("Let'im rahhnn!" But seriously, it's the structure of the song and harmonies I love, not the lyrics.) Last edited by ribbons; 08-29-2012 at 02:54 PM. |

Thanks, everyone, for all the short songs you have thought of to add to the thread.
Liz, this is the first time I've heard any of the songs you posted! George Harrison - "I'd Have You Anytime" The Beach Boys - "All I Wanna Do" and "Let Him Run Wild" The Rolling Stones - "She Said Yeah" (protopunk!) The Kinks - "Lazy Old Sun" and "Village Green" (a village green does sound very British) and Harry Nilsson's relaxing "Open Your Window" (a tent *is* cheaper than rent! ) I especially liked The Beach Boys' short song "All I Wanna Do." Very sweet and shimmery, the song reminds me strongly of the simple, clear, glowing feeling of being in love with someone. Now I'm sad. But I'm glad you shared it. There are so many songs I haven't heard before. Thank you for helping to fill in the gaps. Quote:
^ This reminds me (how I could I forget!) of one of my favorite short songs! I've thought of posting it in the "Favourite Love Songs" thread, but it fits well here, too. I love this song: The Beach Boys - "Here Comes The Night"

Rocky: She fills gaps. Paulie: What's 'gaps'? Rocky: I dunno, she's got gaps, I got gaps, together we fill gaps. I can see the devotional, agape love in you, Liz: you are altruistic, helpful, empathic, and sensitive toward all with whom I've seen you interact. I'm always grateful when you turn your gaze and attention on *me* so that I can benefit from them, smiling my way through MB due to corn-eating, lyrics-deciphering you. Talking of gaps and friendship reminds me of two things, Liz: first, a line from a song I wrote two years ago ( http://www.musicbanter.com/song-writ...tml#post725912 ); second, the following short song by John Mayer, because it makes me think of you in the circle of my friends who defend the silver linings of life's clouds: John Mayer - "Heart of Life" (Acoustic) (It's *almost* less than 3 minutes long, so I'm only cheating a little by including it in the thread. I hope the OP doesn't get mad! ) A short song posted for Liz, who helps make the heart of life good: John Mayer - Heart of Life (Acoustic) - YouTube Quote:

* * * And now, here is a song that I love hearing but only realized yesterday is less than three minutes long. I was listening again to songs in the thread I started on good songs by non-famous bands--and there it was! So there you go, sopsych: another short song that you like (or liked). Now you are up to three, I think! The La's - "There She Goes" The La's "There She Goes" (Original Single) - YouTube
