Fantasy Rock and Roll League
OK - so we're all music lovers right, well let's sit right here and come up with the greatest super band the world has ever seen, and with help from our friends at - reanimatrix - even the mortal slumber of 6 feet under can be ignored....
who's gonna start me off with... say... the drummer? |
How about John "Stumpy" Pepys? Unfortunately he died in 1966 in a "bizarre gardening accident" that the authorities said was "best left unsolved".
|
what is it with drummers and mishappenstance... they seem to invite tragic irony and apperatus based injury?
OK he's on the subs bench, and a shoe in for the darwin award... |
Is their a genre specification?
|
nope man - carte blanche, feel free to mix the ****
|
How about Gene Krupa for the drummer?
|
OK, Ok - interesting - but just like mommy... sorry the teacher, i meant the teacher (damn it, so emabrassing, why do i always do that to myself) used to say in 4th grade, I'ma have to insist you back that offering up with a reason

please don't misinterprate that as an act of aggression - I'm all for individuality, and tin foil hats - lets be friends |

My reasoning for my nomination is that Krupa was one of the greatest drummers of the 20th century and he had an aggressive style that would very much lend itself to a heavy rock environment. As far as I know, he never played with any rock bands, but it would have been great to hear him give it a try. Since I now have the chance to bring him back from the dead and restore him to his 1930s/1940s level of ability, I'd love to hear him give it a shot. |
Love this idea!
I'm not really down with drummers --- one sounds pretty much the same to me, as I've mentioned before. But for pure honest rock style, how about exhuming Colin Flooks, aka Cozy Powell? |
Jimmy Chamberlin anyone?

drummer?
personally i strive for absolute perfection in a drummer thus i vote Roland http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...um_machine.jpg |
Yeah, I like him, but his last two albums were --- how can I put this --- a touch, well, mechanical...
|
Milford Graves. Free jazz drummer, totally insane. I would love hearing him take a stab at other kinds of music.

After 'ol "Moog" went off into Ambient projects, the albums were never the same. Still, that first one (found used, cut out, with shrink wrap and Rinks $1.00 sticker) was a killer Debut! |
Meg white...
|
Apparently my Spinal Tap joke was either too subtle or just wasn't funny. :(

I thought about mentioning Joe Mama Besser and Peter "James" Bond, but too much Tap spoils the smell.

Dennis "Machinegun" Thompson (MC5)
