The NY Dolls were a walking disaster, but they hung together long enough two make to great records. Everything fell together a bit better on "Too Much, Too Soon" than "S/T", maybe thanks to producer Shadow Morton. This is fast, sleazy and loose rock n roll, with grand aspirations.
Who couldn't love these guys? Rip, Killer, Johnny and Billy

Too Much, Too Soon was awful.
About 2 good songs and a bunch of boring covers. How anyone could prefer that to the debut is a mystery to me.

Frost* - Milliontown (2006) Probably the closest thing to a spiritual revelation I've had upon first listen to a record, which is a fairly noteworthy thing considering I was in the middle of my high school years when this came out and didn't know jack shit about anything. On top of this, it is one of the few records to come out over the last decade that demonstrates just how good progressive rock can get when crossed with the right pop sensibility. Beautiful production too: propulsive & immaculate in all the right places. In short, an instant classic.

Mine would easily be Trout Mask Replica by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band. It changed the way that I look at music as a whole and sounds fresh to this day whenever I listen to it. If you're not yet aware, my username is the same as the opening track of the album.

if i was asked this question in real life i would certainly answer with "well what genre?" but in all honesty it all points back to this album....this is where i started to really look at music as something completely different....this is also where i started to look into music for myself and not because i was being told to....this is where my happiness lies |

Yeah, that's what most people think. What can I say?
