Rolling Stone: 10 Greatest Albums of All Time

You may not agree with the list..........Isn't that the beauty of it? That everyone's list would be different? BUT what album grabs you the most from their top 10?

Ah, just the kind of safe list I would expect from Rolling Stone:
  • All rock
  • All in English
  • All from the US or UK
  • All male
  • All released in the 60s or 70s
  • Almost all white
I like a decent amount of what's on it but it really doesn't get more myopic than that list. And the fact that there are only six different artists on the list is also pretty dumb.

This was a part of the "500" greats albums list compiled by Rolling Stone. But i couldn't be bothered making a poll with 500 choices. These are the bands with the most albums in the 500 list.

The Beatles = 10
Bob Dylan = 10
The Rolling Stones = 10
Bruce Springsteen = 10
The Who = 7
David Bowie = 5
Elton John = 5
Bob Marley & The Wailers = 5
Led Zeppelin = 5
Radiohead = 5
U2 = 5

oops. my mistake. The Boss actually has 8

I'd like to see Rolling Stone do a top 10 list without mentioning The Beatles. I love The Beatles give or take a couple albums, but damn.

To answer the question though, out of those ten, i'd go with Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band.

I woke up with this song in my head coincidentally.

How many threads are we going to have like this? Seriously. Is this a Beatles fan-site in disguise or something?

My favorite one of the list is Exile on Main St.

Pearl Jam's Ten should be in the top 10.

It's the best and most influential album of the latest 30 years.

Seriously... none of the southern rock bands like Creedence Clearwater Revival & Lynyrd Skynyrd. And no Pink Floyd or other rock greats like Eagles, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Van Halen, Queen, Steely Dan, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Dire Straits, Rainbow, Deep Purple, Dio, Scorpions, etc. That's a silly list... and I've always believed The Beatles are overrated but this is carrying things too far.
