Apparently a lot based on Rolling Stone's selections.

i was unaware that every nation/creed/colour/religion had to be equally represented on a list concerned with musical skill? that's truly a pathetic complaint. All of the bands on the list are either British or American...and yet no one raises the complaint that the white peoples of most of Europe/Australia/New Zealand/Canada/South Africa etc aren't represented?

Black music like blues, soul, funk, jazz, ska, reggae and many others were hugely influential in the direction popular music took.

Just out of interest name 20 South African bands that have had worldwide success.

I can't name any. but i love the use of the term "white people" being used here as if some kind of racist anti-black agenda is being used by Rolling Stone. because the domination of the list is by the UK and the USA, not simply "white people" which is quite a broad and ambiguous term. and does influential mean the greatest?

Did I say "every nation/creed/colour/religion had to be equally represented"? No. My point is simply that many of the "greatest albums of all time" have been released by people who aren't white so it's a little odd that Rolling Stone's list is comprised almost exclusively of white people.

Er... I raised that exact point in the very first reply to this thread. Are you just trying to troll or something?

They have "What's Goin On" in the top 10 that is the greatest "Pro-black" album there is. lol..
They praise Stevie Wonder,Jimi Hendrix,James Brown,Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye..and also in the top 100 greatest singers of all time Aretha Franklin is listed as the number 1 (which i don't agree with)
So let's not even go there!

What the hell are you talking about? Did you actually read what I wrote? It really isn't that hard to understand.

And none of those people except Marvin Gaye are in the top ten list we're discussing here so what the fuck is your point?

It's Rolling Stone magazine, so it doesn't really matter either way since their lists don't get taken seriously.
