Just out of interest name 20 South African bands that have had worldwide success.
I can't name any. but i love the use of the term "white people" being used here as if some kind of racist anti-black agenda is being used by Rolling Stone. because the domination of the list is by the UK and the USA, not simply "white people" which is quite a broad and ambiguous term. and does influential mean the greatest?

no one can argue that the Beatles were hugely influential on the direction of pop music today...but....many of you dont consider them the greatest....

Did I say "every nation/creed/colour/religion had to be equally represented"? No. My point is simply that many of the "greatest albums of all time" have been released by people who aren't white so it's a little odd that Rolling Stone's list is comprised almost exclusively of white people.

Er... I raised that exact point in the very first reply to this thread. Are you just trying to troll or something?

I think you took his comment too seriously.

It's Rolling Stone magazine, so it doesn't really matter either way since their lists don't get taken seriously.

The sad thing is that once upon a time they were cool. Granted, that time was before I was born, but nevertheless it did supposedly exist.

Yeah, I heard a long time ago that they could be taken seriously. I really wish they would go back to that, they could turn themselves around in a second, but they just choose not to. I still like to flip through their magazine when I see it every now and then, just for the hell of it.
