"In music, an augmented triad is a triad, or chord, consisting of two major thirds (an augmented fifth). The term augmented triad arises from an augmented triad being a three note chord, or triad, whose top note is raised, or augmented (in comparison to a major chord)."

According to my recent googling they are used in everything from classical to jazz to pop to death metal. I even found some ukulele forum where people were talking about using them. Oh, and the Beatles have used them. Why should you care? I have no idea.

While it may not be used as commonly as other chords, I had my doubts that the beatles were the only band to use them. But still, I give props to them for going outside of basic major and minor triads.

Well you know if the Beatles used them then obviously every single band ever since 1962 would have copied them so they must be important.

The Beatle used them, and 3.) some people like to hear an augmented chord, because there are a few songs listed that were hits that had them.

I don't either. I think he likes the Cure, Harry Nilsson, Pram and The Thermals, beside them I don't have the slightest what else he likes.
