Plus they are the only band I know to ever use an Augmented chord, I think that was made them intriguing to some because they heard some unusual chord and thought subconscientiously "That's different, what chord was that?" I think that added to The Beatles appeal.
I'm no music theory expert, but I really doubt they were the only band to ever use an augmented chord.

i actually met Paul McCartney at one of my dinner parties that i held in the early seventies. Conversation was a bit stale at first and then i asked him,

"So Paul...which route did you take to get here?"

to which he replied

"The long and winding road! That leads, to your door!"

I nodded, biting absently into snack size sausage roll, knowing of course that he meant the B842.

Now I'm curious now, did you ever get a chance to meet Dave Edmunds, Tom Jones or Bonnie Tyler?

Tom regularly visited, and we once spent the entire day making cringeworthy jokes out of song titles and lyrics....many found this activity to be rather unusual......but Tom always assured them it's not....

Wait let me guess you almost met Dave Edmunds Saturday night, and you eexpress your love for Bonnie but she told you turn around bright eyes and that it's nothing but a heartache - nothing but a fool's game. Am I right?

Be honest you've met Bonnie Tyler, and she totally eclisped your heart.

I'm no music theory expert, neither. But I'm pretty sure they never occur in Heavy Metal. Mostly likely you don't hear them in hip hop music unless there is a song that is sampled & looped that has one - which I don't know if there is. Punk usually sticks to Fifth chord - like e.g. Johnny Ramone. Blues usually sticks to I, IV, V chords, most of which are 7th and if it's influences by Jazz, R&B or Funk it will have more jazzier chords it might have 9th & 11th.Country stick to 1-4-5 too and Folk usually use turn arounds, a mix of Major and minor chords. And Altetnative well they use different tricks like de-tunings or movable chords, or accidentals for dissonance. Jazz knows all the chords, Maj & min 6th/7th but I doubt if they use augemnted at all.

Trust me on this 99.999% of songs you hear do not contain Augmented chords. Only a few Beatles songs

Hmmm... well according to Wikipedia everyone from Chuck Berry to Wagner has used them so I'm probably going to continue to disbelieve your claim that only Beatles songs contain them.
