The name of the Marvin Gaye tune people are saying sounds like "Blurred Lines" is called "Got To Give It Up". But neither the chords nor the melody are the same but Thicke might have sampled the drum track.

My reply is just a teensy bit late, but YES, I hear the resemblance between "Learning to Fly" and "Safe and Sound."

"Learning to Fly" has almost the exact same beat, and the guitar chords sound very much like the synth background notes in "Safe and Sound." Good catch!

Kanye West's "Black Skinhead" and Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll" Part II.

"Black Skinhead" reminded me immediately of Gary Glitter's "Rock and Roll" Part II (The "Hey Song"), which is my favorite song used to hype up the crowd before sports events.

Since I don't actually watch the sports at the few sports events I attend, I enjoy thinking instead about the music, such as the hype songs used, as well as watching the pep band, the cheerleaders, the mascots and the crowd...and critiquing uniform colors, ha ha! (<-- Off-topic information added just for the sake of my own amusement at dissing sports.)

The songs use almost the exact same bouncy, heartbeat percussion, which I love:

Well, that´s interesting, driveyourcar; I had no idea it was such an old song. I thought I´d check up on Maria Elena, which also turns out to be an old song. It was written (with lyrics) by Lorenzo Barcelata, but in 1932, so in fact Dream A Little Dream remains the older song :-



Have to say that I prefer the Mamas and Papas though!
