When I was younger I used to listen almost exclusively to male singers. At the time I was into heavier stuff.
Now that I'm older I've grown a definite appreciation for female singer-songwriters. Some of my favorites are the obvious ones (ie. Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple) but I've also really gotten into Sarah Harmer lately. I wasn't a big fan of Kathleen Edwards' latest record (too much Bon Iver) but her earlier work is pretty happening. And if you haven't checked out the Jill Andrews 6-song EP you're missing out - great songs, great voice, terrific production values. If you're a dude that likes chick singers like these I'm super-curious to know what's on your playlists. (EDIT - reworded the first paragraph since it was confusing) Last edited by Zontar; 07-27-2012 at 05:32 AM. |
