Like/love them both.
Whitney was more mainstream/popular music. Adele is more soul and not exactly popular/mainstream music. Vocals = Definitely Whitney. Best all–around performance = Definitely Adele... writes her songs and is/was mature even with her first album.

But why do we always compare female singers to one another. It's like one can't exist without the other.
I dunno. I don't see much in common other than they're both female singers.

Amy Winehouse is pretty cool too, but I don't think she can "compete" with Whitney's voice :-)

Adele has a song or two that I don't mind, though she's not someone I'd actively choose to listen to.
Whitney Houston, on the other hand, is responsible for some of the worst, most excruciatingly boring music released in my lifetime. |

This comparison is not a smart comparison because Adele has not been in the scene as long as Whitney was.
