Default The Cure vs. The Smiths

I love both groups, their music shares a special part of my heart and are very sentimental to me.
(I found out about The Cure from my father he would always play their songs(Lullaby,Just Like Heaven, etc.) for me when I was a child..It brings back so many memories of going to Hollywood and special family moments..)
I found out about The Smiths from my oldest brother and I've been hooked to every album and song they did that is out Morrisey has such a unique and strong voice and that connects so well with the mood of their music.
This kind of reminds me of the whole "Who's better Beatles or Stones?..argument" , Who do you guys prefer /like most/listen to the most The Smiths or The Cure?

The Smiths for me too. Never been a huge fan of The Cure, and I have tried with various albums.

The Cure. I like The Smiths but I don't find myself immersed in their music the way I do with The Cure, and nothing I'm aware of by them is anywhere close to as good as Disintegration. I do think Morrissey is a better lyricist than Robert Smith though. But Robert Smith is a better guitarist than Johnny Marr imo so I guess that kind of evens out.

The Smiths might be better quality wise, but I'd sooner listen to the Cure anyday, so its the Cure.

Instrumentally I prefer the atmosphere of the Cure. I do find Morrisey's voice to be better then Smith's. I enjoy both catalogs but I think the Cures catalog has aged better. So Cure, anything to spite Paloma.

Having been a both a Smiths head and a Cure kid, I now sometimes find it hard to listen to the Smiths whine.

The Cure! The Smiths are just depressing.

If there were a poll, the Cure would be winning.
