I think it was done as a joke to describe how polar the fans of these bands are. I always found both to be pretty engaging bands.

It does explain it all, in a way. The pro-Smiths writer goes on and on about lyrics, but guess what? I don't listen to the Cure for the lyrics. I listen to them for the music, and their music is better than the Smiths music.

I'm not really into lyrics I'm into music and the Smiths have the upper-hand in that department compared to the Cure.

Yes, I agree that the Smiths have the better lyrics. My point is the Cure have better music.

awwww c'mon that is not true lol..
one thing i do love about the cure is the synthesizer they used in most of their songs puts a pretty nice touch on their songs
but the smiths music was more accessible imo..
