Here's a concise list of what I know by heart in my short music career:

Captain Beefheart & His/The Magic Band - Safe As Milk, Safe As Milk, Trout Mask Replica, Lick My Decals Off, Baby, The Mirror Man Sessions, and Ice Cream For Crow
Frank Zappa - Apostrophe ('), Hot Rats, Bongo Fury (to be fair this is a Zappa/Beefheart album, but I'll just put it here), Burnt Weenie Sandwich, and One Size Fits All
Cream - Disraeli Gears
Zu - Igneo and Carboniferous
Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans, Close to the Edge, and Fragile
Mr. Bungle - S/T and Disco Volante
Fantomas - S/T
John Zorn - Spy vs. Spy
Ornette Coleman - This is Our Music and Dancing In Your Head
John Coltrane - Ascension
The Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground and Nico and White Light/White Heat
Marc Ribot - Saints and Asmodeous
Pink Floyd - The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon, Meddle, Wish You Were Here, Animals, Piper at the Gates of Dawn, Atom Heart Mother, and Saucerful of Secrets
Sonny Sharrock - Ask the Ages
Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs
Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
This Heat - Deceit
The United States of America - S/T
The Who - Tommy
miRthkon - Vehicle
Jandek - Blue Corpse and Interstellar Discussion
John Fahey - The Voice of the Turtle

I'll just stop there, I didn't expect there to be so many. I'm quite pleased about this, actually.

Burial - Untrue
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds - Live at Luther College
White Stripes - White Stripes
System of a Down - Toxicity
Mudvayne - L.D. 50

The last two I don't listen to anymore. I never even owned Toxicity, but I do know it inside out, because when it was released my brother bought it and had it in his CD player for months.

RHCP - Blood Sugar Sex Magik

It's not my absolute favourite, I don't think it's perfect. I do think I wore out the cassette then I wore out the cd back in the day. Used to be able to play about 90% of the album on both guitar or bass, different songs tripped me up in different ways. The Greeting Song is still today my warm up song of choice on guitar.

I hold the incredibly unpopular opinion that this is really the only Stooges studio album worth owning. I've had both Funhouse and their self-titled debut, and while there were certain songs on them that were good, I never liked sitting down and listening to the whole thing through. Raw Power on the other hand is an album I can listen to repeatedly and never get bored of, even the titular "Raw Power" which has that really annoying keyboard clanging throughout the song. I'm sorry but John Williamson was a better, and more engaging guitarist than Ron Asheton could have ever been.
it's "James" Williamson, and i heard he quit his high-earning corporate job to rejoin the Stooges for some tour dates

i love it as well, and i have both Bowie's and his own mix

thinking of getting the Legacy Edition as well

Honestly, I know alot of REM fans don't like Up, but I always find it to be a beautiful etheral trip of an album. From Murmur to New Adventures, it's all good to excellent material but I've never cared for Life's Rich Pageant or GREEN. Reckoning would be the other REM album I know inside and out. Pop masterpiece.

I'm surprised to hear someone say that. I think Life's Rich Pageant is one of their best albums.

Koji Kondo - The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (original soundtrack)

Obviously I know this mainly from the game itself, but I have been listening to the actual album for around three months on and off and I absolutely love it. Nicely ordered and I vividly picture every scene of the game based on the sound/song played. Also, the quality is superior, which is a huge plus.

Gutbucket SlimBlues Emporium

I found this quite randomly whilst looking up the Mos Def song Beef, and trying to find as many remixes as I could. This album combined blues with Contemporary Pop, Hip Hop, Reggae and all other good stuff. Rumors Beck and Dangermouse were involved in the making of it, but I am unsure. Played the hell out of it for two years. Love every song.

Great album. I think this and By the Way are their best and I feel like they belong on my list as well. The Smashing Pumpkins may have inspired me to pick up a guitar, but I desperately wanted to learn how to play Under the Bridge. There are some chords in that song that are still challenging even today, so of course at the time I didn't get very far with the song. It was a bit discouraging...I gave up on that for a while and moved on to Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Personally, my go to warm up song is Rush's The Trees.
