Who Was The Biggest Loss To Music? (Death) :/

Out of all the young singers who passed away early... buddy holly,ritchie vallens,john lennon,marvin gaye,elvis presley,jimi hendrix,otis redding,kurt cobain,amy winehouse,aaliyah,jim morrison,michael jackson,freddie mercury,selena,2pac,Bradley Nowell,ricky nelson,eddie cochran,janis joplin,hank williams,ronnie van zant,bon scott,bob marley,marc bolan,jim croce,duane allman,mama cass,sam cooke,frankie lymon,ian curtis...

Who do you feel could've contributed so much more but was cut short(pre-maturely)?
I'd have to go with jimi hendrix I wondered what new direction he would've went with the music..such a shame to lose such a musical genius so early...
When I listen to cry of love/rainbow bridge it gives me a glimpse of what was about to happen next..

From a hip-hop fans perspective;

Biggie, Pun and Big L were all big losses.

Also, on another note Jay Reatard could have done so much more. As could have Jeff Buckley.

From a hip hop perspective; Dilla, and it's not even close. Shaped and defined an entire era of hip hop and R&B pretty much single-handedly and in his role with the Ummah.

Well, the answer is in the title of the thread, Death's frontman, Chuck Schuldiner...
He certainly was a great contributor to the development of Death Metal and its evolution towards more technical and progressive territories. Maybe he would have experienced with jazz/fusion if he still lived.

Another guy who died too early, Krzysztof Komeda, a jazzman who was hired by Polanski to perform the music for his movies, among which Rosemary's Baby's score.

Everyone knew Michael Jackson would die soon however, his death was unexpected.. If we're talking FAMOUS ones, then Elvish Presley, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Lennon, Freddie Mercury and Jim Morrison are probably the top 5.. The older guys I cannot really put on a list, if they die at old age, it's expected, but the young, talented ones who go waaay too soon is just a shame, drugs will do that to you though..
