I can maybe see after the first two albums, especially around the Mid-70's, although I would say that Jeff Lynne did develop quite a talent with his studio production techniques, but I have to give the first two albums more than that. At least they could be for the very early days with Roy Wood ...
"I Am the Walrus" + The better parts of the second side of the original Yellow Submarine soundtrack + "King Midas in Reverse" + "Eleanor Rigby" (esp. on "Look at Me Now") + "The Last Thing I Remember" by The Turtles (as The Atomic Enchilada - love the Battle of the Bands album) + (Throw in Baroque Composer of your choice) - John Lennon's edgy wit Last edited by Screen13; 06-24-2012 at 02:18 PM. |

OK, here's something for Mid/Late 70's ELO -
The 1967 Beatles ( - The Groundbreaking or the edgy wit and the psych outs) + Mickie Most and those who wrote for him (for the simple but hook filled music with great production) + The soundtrack to Star Wars (pre-Discovery)/John Williams (the orchestral bombast that was their trademark) + 1/5,000 of Giorgio Moroder (Discovery/Xanadu days) |
