You guys missed the point. I was point the pacific periods that were the best music. Not all of 1980s had great music. late 2000s in my view was caught in the nonsense of copycatting of Lady Gaga and it continues today.

Really? So you're saying every album that was released in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 were Lady Gaga copycats?

And by "specific periods" you named every single year from 1960-2005 besides the middle of the 1980's <_<

1980s had some funky stuff I'll give it that, but gawsh. Everyone 1960s was the best generation of music.

Indeed so. Rock music, R&B Music, and Country Music were at their great stages.

Squarepusher is fantastic, but his latest album bored me compared to a few of his other releases.

I personally think there is near enough the same amount of great music made every year depending on tastes, and luckily for me there isn't a genre I dislike.

Pop music too loud and all sounds the same: official | Reuters
I've been seeing that article all over the place. Mostly spread around by people you'd expect to be gloating about this sort of thing. As much as "the true music lovers" hate to admit it, the homogenization of pop really does make sense from a business standpoint. The general public is going to expect consistency, not mind-bending innovation. That sameness in pop music exists because people want it.
