Growing happily up with music of KMFDM, Nitzer Ebb, The Prodigy, Meat Beat Manifesto, The Shamen, Future Sound of London, 808 State, The Curve, etc...
i was really grooving and feeling good. I can empathize with this forum discussion. Lately, I listen to Hybrid (Flashpoint, Disappear Here, Break My Soul), and whatever else I can find that's dancey. Even the searchable/playable electronic sampler demos on loopmasters have high modern quality sound quality. I am also repelled by horror core, death metal trap, gangsta, and all the vocoder loq iq bs |

This generation of music is pretty diverse—there’s something for everyone, which is cool. On one hand, we’ve got amazing artists pushing boundaries in genres like hip-hop, pop, and indie. Streaming platforms have made it easier for lesser-known artists to get exposure, so there’s a lot of variety. On the other hand, some might feel that the overproduction and formulaic nature of certain mainstream hits lack the depth of past eras.

Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are so popular because many people crave catchy beats that are easy to dance and sing along to. Sometimes, listeners just want to enjoy music without overthinking it, and that's totally valid. Plus, pop music has often touched on themes like sex, drinking, and drugs—it's just more direct nowadays. Even The Beatles wrote about LSD, after all.

I understand where you're coming from! As a 16-year-old, it can be frustrating to see the music trends today compared to the classics from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Many of today’s popular artists, like Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne, often focus on themes like partying and wealth, which can feel shallow compared to the profound lyrics of legends like 2Pac, Led Zeppelin, or Bob Dylan. It makes you wonder why the younger generation gravitates towards this style. I'd love to hear more thoughts on this!

If it's profound lyrics you want there is no shortage of thought provoking artists from this decade alone, and some of them are even hugely popular! The diversity of music coming out lately has been unlike anything we have seen in music before, cross pollination of dif genres, scenes, mentalities. The gatekeeping present with decades of past is mostly gone nowadays, there really is an abundance in creativity at the moment and especially with darker times in history people are creating very important art to shape cultural change. Luckily, the internet has, along with many cons, given platform to so many new lines of thinking and being that one can truly not be bored with modern music if they go about looking for it, which is also increasingly easy.
