Albums That Were Considered Huge Flops That You Actually Enjoy...
 

Well I know it's confusing how some albums are considered the worst (critically/commerically) but some still have gems and some people like them (not everybody have to agree)
What album that is considered crap/flop do you actually like/enjoy?

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Mardi Gras (even though it's been deemed the worst they ever did or the worst album by any major rock band.)

Count me in as another listener of End of the Century. Not the greatest Ramones album, but "Do You Remember Rock and Roll Radio," the Spectorized "Rock and Roll High School," and "Danny Says" are great. I think that maybe Brain Drain may be their worst. Have to hear it again, though...

Satanic Majesties...been a listener for about 25 years already. "2,000 Light Years from Home," "She's a Rainbow," "The Lantern" (yeah, I like it!), "2,000 Man," and "Citadel." The dark side of Psych defined.

same here it took time for me to get into that album but when i did i loved it more than the rest of their work :)
yes yes yes idk how people sleep on satanic majesties :/ almost every song on it is amazing :D i prefer it over sgt. pepper who it'll always be compared to.

Smashing Pumpkins - Machina/The Machines of God - They were already upsetting fans with the stylistic shift of Adore, but I think both Adore and Machina show them at their peak of musical creativity (well, Billy Corgan's peak anyway). Though it's a bit long, Machina is full of really excellent progressive rock that still stayed accessible. I think people were so used to the immediate gratification of stuff on Mellon Collie that people didn't have patience to let Machina grow on them (and it's definitely a grower).

Red Hot Chili Peppers - One Hot Minute - Sure, it's no Blood Sugar Sex Magic, but I found it to be really enjoyable. I like seeing a more aggressive side, which Dave Navarro's playing gave them. I think they actually should have taken a lesson from this recently when looking for another replacement. Instead of a John Fruciante clone, they should have found someone completely different so they could explore more.

Alice Cooper - Flush The Fashion / Special Forces / Zipper Catches Skin / DaDa

Alice Cooper attempts Post Punk, New Wave, Synth Pop, Avant Garde and a whole bunch of other shit that his regular fan base will hate.... and ends up doing them surprisingly well.

I may very well be one of the only people in the world who views this album not as an extreme change in style for him, but rather as a natural evolution of his new wave tendencies. Not only that but it's a hell of an improvement over Charmed Life. I actually rate it—along with Rebel Yell and Whiplash Smile—as one of his three best albums.

Definite agreement with...so many albums here. Especially Queen's Hot Space.

"Las Palabras de Amor" is one of my absolute favorite Queen tracks, strangely. It may be because in spite of my lack of interest in the male gender, Freddie Mercury melted my heart when he delivered the line: "This room is bare. This night is cold. We're far apart, and I'm...growing old..."

In addition to that, "Calling All Girls" was perfect for the era, as were "Backchat" and "Body Language."

If those weren't on the album, I apologize because I'm not bothering to check my facts, but I'm pretty sure they were. Also, "Life Is Real" exceeded expectations.

(That was on this album and not The Works, right?)

Correct! And I totally agree! Those songs are classic to me. :)
