Transvision Vamp - Little Magnets Versus the Bubble of Babble (1991)
This is one of many albums I loved which tanked in the Pop Scene through my Early 90's. It was a road tape that I played many times over. Infectious hooks galore, plus most importantly Wendy James, but I guess that the hype wore off in The UK although I'm still trying to get some interviews that may explain why the album went under quick. They never really had any kind of success in The States even as MTV's 120 Minutes was playing the videos from time to time - Was I the only one in town that owned it? I think so. Update: Just Wiki-ed it. In The UK, it was not released, with the company stating that they were going to hold it off after the disappointing charts of the two singles. It did OK in other countries, including Australia, although it never charted in The US where at least "I Just Wanna..." was a small Dance/Alt rock hit. chartwise, it was quite a fall from Velveteen, sadly, but there were a few that knew that this was going to be something of a small cult favorite later on. It's a charming album that certainly did not deserve to be ignored. Last edited by Screen13; 06-19-2012 at 08:51 PM. |
