It's not a terrible album, Bluejeans and Moonbeams, but I think it was just bad timing. Had Vliet released that then worked his way up to Trout Mask or Decals, I think that people would be a lot more appreciative of that album.

If anything I prefer the sludgy-ness of this disc over the sterility of their more proper industrial fare. Reload and Brick Windows are still great tracks, I always enjoyed The Game Show and Useless as well. The Dylan cover of 'Lay Lady Lay' is a little odd but fits well in the disc. I can definitely understand why the album got the reaction it did from longtime fans as well as the press, I just didn't happen to be in either camp when I got my hands on it back in the day.
Reminded me that I still have this somewhere in my collection. It's sluggish, but "Reload" and the "Lay Lady Lay" cover are certainly among my favorite Ministry tracks. It's been a long long time since I heard it, but maybe in the right time (night) right mood, I may get more out of it than I did then.

In a way, a compare and contrast to Powerstation's huge selling thundering chunk of Big 80's Pop (which I have..."Some Like It Hot" however is a guilty pleasure) is a reminder of how the 80's changed in '85. Sophisticated music, Mega videos, a big list of guests (including Grace Jones on "Election Day"), and a big promotion all wrapped up in a hideous cover which to this day I still blame for it's quick tank. I used to laugh at this one, until one day...
that's one of my fave Duran Duran side-projects as well

I'm not sure if this count, but it seem like Distortion by The Magnetic Fields gets a lot of hate and it's pretty much my favorite Magnetic Fields album

The Great Rock n Roll Swindle Soundtrack -

When it was released, this met with some decent sales but also a lot of apathy (although I think the film met with more apathy...maybe I'm wrong)- Time moved on, PiL was showing that there was life after Anarchy, a few Pistols collections (one an Interview album!) already wore out their welcome, and so on. Still, those who got it then were met with a classic mess. Orchestral versions of Pistols favorites, Tenpole's legendary "Who Killed Bambi?" performance, the French Street Musicians playing "Anarchy in the UK," the Disco Pistols medley (a car trip favorite!), Cook and Jones' "Silly Thing," the Pistols running crazy on covers of songs like "Substitute" and "Stepping Stone" (both the best covers and now among classic Pistols lists), Malcolm's singing "You Need Hands," and Sid's definitive version of "My Way." For a long time, this was an album that caught the eye, but still passed on for new happenings. Today, it's a cult classic. Save time for this after listening to the definitive Pistols album and collection of your choice, and then dive into the madness. Note, a couple of the tracks don't even appear in the film.

I always enjoyed that soundtrack, without doubt one of the best rock soundtracks ever.

All of Pantera's releases after Cowboys were great anyway. Goddam Electric is without doubt one of my favourite Pantera songs and is on that album.

Presence is a very average hard rock effort from a band who capable of so much more. It has a classic opener but is let down by a bunch of filler in the middle.
