This is such an awesome idea, I've never done anything of the sort. Not even a diary :/

I'd love to make one of these but I don't think 2011 was a very interesting year (I discovered Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Gorillaz and that's all the important stuff), so yeah. I don't think I have a lot to add.

The point is to make your personal playlist of the songs that are currently most important to you, at this moment. They don't need to be new.

NOTEWORTHY EVENTS OF 2010
  • Embarked upon my first relationship, which had a very poor outcome. Spent year futilely attempting to move long-distance, and constantly bickering over petty things.
  • Had ass dumped at the end of summer, which was absolutely necessary for my growth as a person, and as a result was able to (eventually) kick depression.
  • Signed up to Music Banter.

So... 2011

I started the year overworked and then got saddled with a less than stellar assistant, then I threatened to quit and got the Summer off instead, then I went back, and while the workload stabilized it also diminished quite a bit. Then just around Christmas my roommate let me know he was going to move in with his gf across town. So the diminished workload with my current job was no longer a viable option to cover my bases.

So the tunes that I recall standing out the most or that I found myself listening to the most were:

1 - Deconstruction - LA Song
2 - Monster Magnet - Black Balloon
3 - Slipknot - Circle
4 - Mastodon - The Wolf Is Loose
5 - The Smashing Pumpkins - The Everlasting Gaze
6 - Nomeansno - Humans
7 - Medicine - Time Baby II
8 - Squarepusher - Tensor In Green
9 - Eric Avery - Belly Of An Insect
10 - Future Of The Left - adeadenemyalwayssmellsgood
11 - The Smashing Pumpkins- Age of Innocence

Spoiler for the clips:

NOTEWORTHY EVENTS OF 2011

  • Mother came down with cancer, spent six months in radiation, and emerged healthy.
