There are songs we like as a whole and we can go on and on about why we like it. This thread is for taking the time to appreciate the smallest details and short moments in songs that sometimes go by unnoticed/unappreciated.
Here are a few examples for me: -On Fracture by King Crimson, one of my favorite moments is the reprisal of the main theme on a glockenspiel. It eases some the tension by giving Fripp a few seconds to collect himself and gives the song a brief, but fresh perspective. -The End has several really simple, but effective John Densmore drum fills. I posted in the Doors about how John Densmore bleeds into the music of the Doors and this is yet another example. Despite being so loud over the organ and guitar, I caught myself overlooking his part and focusing on Jim's ramblings. But he does more to set the mood and control the pace of the song than Jim, Robbie or Ray. -The boogie piano that plays all the way through Queens of the Stone Age's Go with the Flow is buried in the mix, but it gives the song so much more bounce and propels it from a catchy hard rocker to an incredibly underrated pop song that still rocks hard. |
