Guest reviewers wanted

Hopping onto Urban's idea and expanding that somewhat, I'd like to see if anyone is interested in reviewing albums within my journal? As you probably know, my tastes run to rock, metal, AOR, prog, some pop, some little country and some uncategorisable stuff. If you have an interest let me know, and I'll see if we can find something that suits you.

Anyone who wants in post here or PM me, and give me a basic idea of what you like. A list of my albums can be provided if required.

Thx

I was thinking of the same idea, as I've never really got around to doing my own reviews yet, have all the skills needed, just need to coordinate them better.

If you want to throw me something to review make it a metal, hard rock or AOR album.

I am behind on Urban's review, but I would put my name down, as long as I could take my time over it.

What album are you reviewing on Urban's thread?

Goofle 06-01-2012 08:23 AM

Feel the Darkness - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It doesn't help that when I line up the tracks, they all have the same title, even though the tags are right.

Trollheart 06-01-2012 08:52 AM

There'd be no hurry, guys gals and undecideds. I'd probably feature one guest reviewer a week, and even at that it probably wouldn't get going for a month or two, or more. Plenty of time.

US: I knew you'd be down with this. The only thing is, I think we have a lot of the same albums, so I'll have to pick out something that a) I haven't already reviewed and b) that you haven't heard before, which could be difficult. Leave it with me anyhoo.

Goofle1: Just let me know what kind of thing you're into (I don't do screamo or punk or hardcore emo or anything else ending in -emo, or anything at all really!) :) Seriously, it's mostly basic rock though I'm more into prog, but plenty of off-the-wall stuff (well, for me) too.

Thanks guys

TH

I will listen to anything you give me mate. No problem with any genre. :)

I'm actually reviewing Hawkwind's Hall of the Mountain Grill for Urban, and am having such a good time listening to it for the first time right now, that I would totally love to give you a hand. I listen to mostly metal, but have been listening to just about everything BUT metal for the past few weeks, so please just give me whatever. And yeah, it could be while before I get back to you with a review.

At the rate you're going, you'll be a music expert in no time.

I've worked in journalism for about a year and done some work for a music magazine with plenty of published reviews, so I'll give it a shot if you'll have me. I've needed an incentive to start reviewing again. Rock, metal, progressive-metal would be good for me.

How are you on Power Pop/80's Rock? I have been getting a number of those albums via $1 used bins.

I'm saving a lot of my Garage Punk for my own blog/journal, which is planned to be connected to a lot of 60's history, and my love of 70's-80's music may be unleashed via this. I'm giving it some thought.

Now this is a very interesting offer, and I have a suggestion for you:

From what I can gather, darling, you and I appear to be the only Richie Sambora fans on this forum, and I was really pleased when I read you giving "Father Time" a mention in the "Greatest Rock Ballads" thread last year.
So what I'm proposing is this - would you like me to write a special review of "Stranger in This Town" for YOUR journal rather than mine, and if you like I'll also do one of "Undiscovered Soul" as well?

I'm offering because as an artist he has very little mention here on MB and I think it would be a good idea to start a little discussion about his albums together in your journal, rather than me talk to myself.

I'm also a very big fan of all his work, in fact both his albums I'm planning on reviewing are in my ten favourite nineties albums!

In return, can you accept me as your son and forgive me the wicked sins I've committed?

Love,

Salami xxx

Ah, Ritchie rocks! Why hasn't he more albums? :)

Just a few things: this is for people to guest in MY journal, and write reviews that I can post there. I thought that was clear, but just in case it's not, that's what I'm looking at (can't be a guest in your own journal).

Also, as well as mentioning "Father Time" (great song!) you may not have noticed that I already reviewed "Undiscovered soul" some time back http://www.musicbanter.com/members-j...ml#post1149611. I'm not sure about "Stranger in this town", as then that leaves me no more Ritchie albums to review, but I'll think about that.

Finally, I can't accept you as my son, but will accept you as my daughter. :);)

Ah no, this was entirely an offer that I write in your journal, I have consider this an honour and a privilege and this is entirely for the "guest column" kind of appearance.

How on earth can I have missed this??? I apologise, I really didn't realise you'd written that, I shall read it immediately - and by the way I'm incredibly excited about reading it!
If it's OK then, shall I take on "Stranger in This Town" which of the two I've listened to more often and would love to talk about? Remember I'm not intending this has anything to do with my journal, this will become your intellectual property!
