I don't know what they mean by "greatest" (Most influential? Great sellers? Uniqueness? Good musical quality?) and until I do, such lists are not really interesting.

I think there are a lot of good albums in the list though (have most of them by far), even if I might order them differently.

but Dude, if kanye west and jayz is the extent of your hiphop/rap favorites, you need to get out more! Have you listened to some of the artists not from the last 10 years or so? Please take a listen to Wu-Tang Clan, Public Enemy, Run DMC, NWA, LL Cool J, etc.

Safe to say that there has been a lot of rubbish, but still.
wu tang..overrated..not lyrics once so ever but rza has some incredible production (i always been a fan of ghostface killah & raekwon)..
public enemy (havent gotten too familiar with their rebel music)
run dmc (extremely simple 80's rap...no interest)
nwa (bad asss cali boyz now i can say ok straight outta compton deserves to be on the list)
ll cool j (overrated rapper that deems himself as goat ..psh yeah ****in right i pass on ladys love cool j haha)

Ugh I don't know about the revisions to this list...
When I really started getting into music I used the original list as a good starting point. But to have so many greatest hits albums is an embarrassment.

Also, it appears to me that album sales is a huge factor on here. I mean to have "Late Registration" that high is just... unexplainable. Yes it was a popular album, but I consider myself a rap snob and there is about only 4-5 listenable tracks on that whole album.

Amnesiac that high?

The black album is also a pretty bad album, it was super popular again but come on there are about 500 rap albums I could list that if you listened to you would go.. wow that is much better than the Black Album. I know none of us take these lists too seriously, but it is disappointing to see a great album like the Stone Roses just inching onto the list whereas other, suspect albums are receiving HUGE praise. Of course this is all subjective and opinion, just because you write for Rolling Stones it doesn't necessarily mean you know ****.

amnesiac is pretty high and has some major songs on it but it should at least be in the 400's imo..i'm pissed they don't have "hail to the thief" on there :/

It's just another RS list. Nothing to get really excited about. Of course, there's quite a few great albums, but then again I'm from an era where at least most of them were about a decade old, and that's seriously a long time ago.

I'd like to see at least some room for a list of albums that focuses only on works from the 90's and after.

I agree with taking all rap off, but let's only leave tupac instead of jay-z and kanye
