Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and essentially any album by Sunn O))) are great albums to listen to through headphones. Although Sunn O))) is great when you have it at full blast on a massive stereo, it's still just as amazing with headphones.

I think The Ventures Walk! Don't Run is definitely a favorite of mine to listen on headphones because of the aesthetic of the instruments used onit, it's pleasure of listening to tunes played with (now) vintage gear. It's not for same reason most albums are chosen eg the complexity of the music; but just for the sound of the Stratocaster, Jazzmaster and P Bass. through tube amps.

Can't Stand The Rezillos and Basher for the bass playing by some of my favorite bass players WIlliam Mysterious and Nick Lowe (respectively). Sometimes a decent set of headphones with good bass response is neccersary to really enjoy an album.

Girlfriend for the guitar playing of Richard Lloyd (Television) and Robert Quine.

I listen to all my music on the cheapest earbuds I can find. ****ty earbuds are the best way to listen to Black Metal.

EDIT: Almost forgot: only treble is real.

I honestly don't think I have an albums I'd be like "oh you need to listen to this with headphones". Like...it sounds great to me regardless of what I'm using and the details usually aren't that tough to pick out on decent speakers. I can see the appeal, though, and it's much easier to get a good headphone setup than a good speaker setup.

What I do have, though, are albums I don't like listening to with headphones. Crazy primitive stereo mixes with awkward separation between the speakers are tough for me to handle with headphones, but on speakers aren't nearly as bad. So there's that.

Anything by Boards of Canada should be listened to on headphones.
