Song suggestions for covers?
My friends and I are in a small band, and we're looking for songs to do covers of. I was hoping the community here would be able to point out a few that we missed, based on these criteria:
We have a piano, two guitars, and a bass (we do not have a percussionist) We don't like death metal or screamo, but otherwise we're fairly open to whatever Thanks very much |

Well, you won't do "I know what I like" without percussion. Hard, in fact, to do most songs I can think of without some sort of drumbeat. What sort of genres do you specialise in/prefer? Are you planning to get a drummer?
Edit: then again, sometimes a piano (being itself a percussion instrument of sorts) could substitute for drums. Interesting. If you try it, let us know how it turns out by posting the results if you can/don't mind...

Best I know of is John Mayall's "Empty Rooms" and "USA Union" albums.

Are you guys completely against percussion for some reason? Bongos or a djembe wouldn't be nearly as overpowering as a full drum kit and still allow for a wider variety of sounds to your mix.
Also, based on your lineup, I wonder why you even bothered making the comment about styles. I doubt anyone would expect a couple of guitars and a piano to do any sort of metal. Rather than tell us what styles you don't like, how about what styles you already prefer playing and what common influences are found within your group members. Right off the bat, with the lineup you present, I'd expect early Radiohead covers, like Street Spirit, Karma Police, High and Dry, Fake Plastic Trees, etc. |

I'm in a couple bands, one of which has no percussion, but 2 guitars, piano, and two singers. We cover Someone Like You (Adele), Wont Give Up (Mraz), Comfortably Numb (Floyd), Working Class Hero (?), Thank You (Zep), Old Man (Neil Young), Hotel Cali (Eagles), Heart Of Gold (Young), Talks To Angels (Black Crowes), Everybody Hurts (REM) and a few more. We have a mellow sound, and the two female vocalists hit some incredible harmonies which give the tunes their own flavor. We hit the local coffee shops, and OM's.
The other band I'm in... that's a totally different show. |

Thanks a lot
Thanks for the great suggestions, there are few here we had never even heard of. Also, for further reference, we're not against percussion, we just don't have a drum set, or a drummer, or bongos, or even a toy xylophone.
