Some of what you've put are bands, so they are not the singers:D

Ya, I know. But its understood ( For me hehe.. For me )

Automaticchaos 03-22-2012 08:15 AM

For me it's without a doubt Eddie Vedder. I do however really like Bruce Dickinson and Chris Cornell

Goofle 03-22-2012 01:11 PM

This was pretty great.

classicrock 03-22-2012 03:04 PM

i fully agree.

TockTockTock 03-22-2012 03:43 PM

Sarah Vaughan (for her unbelievable range and the amount of soul she puts into her music), Don Van Vliet (for being a versatile blues singer as well as sounding batshit insane), Keiji Haino (for his wonderfully falsetto voice), early Lou Reed (for his ability to convey a wide variety of emotions with a very limited, deadpan voice), Rocky Erickson (because he's Rocky ****ing Erickson), and Wild Man Fischer (just for the hell of it).

While there are many many more, I feel this is an acceptable list for me at the moment.

Satisfaction 03-22-2012 04:50 PM

I'm gonna go with (not in any particular order) Elvis Presley,Mike Patton,Bon Scott,David Gilmour,Anthony Kiedis. It's impossible to me to chose one signer and I'm actually leaving some of my favorites out.

Frownland 03-22-2012 06:31 PM

The list is plethoric, but I'd have to say that Don Van Vliet or Captain Beefheart is by far my favourite, such a great range, sound, and style of singing, even if it is modeled after Howlin' Wolf.

slatesphanboi 03-24-2012 08:06 AM

 Chris Cornell!

Howard the Duck 03-24-2012 12:09 PM

Bob Dylan

Hmm. Only one? If I were to choose just one, i'd go with Dallas Green (with Alexisonfire). Mostly for the fact that the mixture of electric guitar, screams, and his vocals, it makes for an incredible experience when listening to their music. Specifically the Old Crows / Young Cardinals album.

I read the OP and was posting than noticed the thread title was singular. So I made the assumption that we could only choose one. But alright, good to know.

I'll agree that Dallas Green is talented. I liked some of his solo stuff. But I HATE alexisonfire.

My ex girlfriend went to high school with Dallas Green and said he was a huge douche.

When it comes to his solo stuff, It's hit and miss for me. Bring Me Your Love is an incredible album, but Sometimes and Little Hell have some tracks that I like, though I wouldn't listen to the whole album or albums in one sitting.

Euronomus 03-26-2012 01:38 AM

Maynard James Keenan, Chelsea Wolfe, Steve Von Till, and Tori Amos, not necessarily in that order.

Key 03-26-2012 06:20 AM

^ Maynard Keenan easily has one of the most unique voices in rock, and I love it.

ribbons 03-31-2012 12:16 AM

Dionne Warwick in her Bacharach prime, and Scott Walker in his early solo period.

Croatian Masochist 03-31-2012 04:50 AM

I think Alex Turner has my favourite voice/lyrics.

Edit: Zack de la Rocha, actually

AmazingPurpleCat 03-31-2012 04:35 PM

Michael Gira has a cool voice

ohsen12 03-31-2012 09:29 PM

I would have to say Dallas Green from City And Colour (for those of you who don't know, Alexisonfire is no more). I like Michael Jackson as well, great music and entertainment.

cLoCkWeRk 04-01-2012 12:42 AM

Robert Plant, Tom Waits, Norah Jones, Les Claypool, Sting, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding and Maynard James Keenan.

But c'mon the dudes voice isn't that good, is it?

Howard the Duck 04-01-2012 01:30 AM

Captain Beefheart for me as well

even if he's just mostly ripping off Howlin' Wolf

Well if the lyrics weren't involved, wouldn't it just be considered talking?
