Default CD unperfection

It seems the last CDs I have purchased have unperfection flaws. Meaning that the begining/end of the underside of the disk aren't as smooth as they once were when CDs first came out. In Addition, It's apparently that manufacters are using cheaper material. Is it just me or does it seem like the CDs are thinner than in the past.
