4. Elvis
3. Jimi Hendrix
2. The Beatles
1. Bob Dylan

This really is much more like it - I wasn't even prepared to talk about anything which didn't have Bob in the top ten. He's managed to write the highest standard of songs continuously for over four decades, and no matter how gritty his voice gets he can still use it for a great effect.
And if we are going to have pioneers in here, Robert Johnson is an absolute essential name, because nearly all blues artists who followed him were in some way or other following his lead.

Too low, imo: Chuck Berry (#25), Sly & The Family Stone (#38), The Kinks (#39), Joni Mitchell (#44), Little Richard (#53), Talking Heads (#64), Curtis Mayfield (#84). All influential and should be ranked higher.

Not to mention he had a huge influence on Hendrix, Zeppelin and Dylan.

If influence isn't supposed to be a factor in this list, I need to make some adjustments. I just threw Michael Jackson in there because I know he's had a big influence on R&B/pop music. I'm not a big fan.

Robert Johnson shouldn't be on there.
The lazy bastard never even bothered making a music video.

That Top 10 is equally bad.

As bad as VH1?

I can accept that :), I watch that channel all the time, LOL! (in fact I think I saw this 100 Greatest Artist show before, like the televised version)

^^^^ Greatest double-album of all time (sold as two albums though, hehe)

So I am standing by G N' R as a top 10 entrant in my own top 10-age!

Roots is your favorite metal album. Your opinion is invalid. ;)

Go back and suck on your Bon Jovi albums.

That's not bad at all, considering that they have a vocalist that can't sing.

Hey, I only have the one. And it's not like I'm saying he doesn't suck. He's just entertaining while he sucks.
